Schefflera Arboricola "Gold Capella"

Description

Nowadays "Gold Capella" is a very popular house plant. It belongs to the species Schefflera arboricola and is also known as "Starleaf" or "Umbrella Tree". The \schefflera belong to the family of Araliaceae.

Naturally, this plant grows in the temperate forests of the Taiwanese mountains, so it can withstand low temperatures. Especially in the winter, this plant may be placed in cool spaces. However, "Gold Capella" likes a humid environment, so it has to be placed in a moist soil. Take care that soil doesn't become too wet, otherwise the roots might rot. During summertime, the plant may be placed outside.

"Gold Capella" is characterised by yellowish spots on de lowest parts of its hand-shaped leaves. In contrast with its close relative "Compacta", "Gold Capella" needs plenty of light (but not very strong sunlight), especially when it hasn't much leaf-green.
